All of a sudden I can't back up my files on this computer.  When I hit file backup it does nothing.  The restore will work but not back up.  What should I do?  I'm running Vista but have been for months with no problem.

Thanks,
Deb

I still can't get it to back up.  I used this feature alot and all of a sudden it stopped.  I'd just do a delete of the  whole program but then I would lose this last campaign.  I even did a upgrade to the latest MBA today to see if that would work.    Angry

No error message at all.  I can restore the files but not back up.  When I hit the back up from file nothing shows in the window.

Maybe try installing it again (in a different Folder than MBA, maybe MBA2, then Restore your data into that).

I tried it here and seems to work ok.  Anyone else run into this issue?

Cheers,
Stan

*Update - just tried it with Vista and Backup works ok there as well.

I was thinking of doing that but then I lose this campaigns invoices unless I retype it all in again.  Can I backup using a back door or something before I uninstall it?

update on issue:

I was able to reinstall it and put my restore into it.  But I still had to re enter all my info from this last campaign.  But it is running fine now.

Thanks,
Deb

Bringing this back up to the top because it is still not letting me back my latest campaign.  No error message just nothing when I try to do the back up.  I am using Vista.  Could this be the problem?  I can restore but not back up files.
HELP PLEASE !!!!!

Could this be a setting that was changed in my Internet options settings?  Or some setting from Vista that won't let me backup the MBA file?  Still can't get a back up from the MBA on the main drive of the computer.  I am only able to use my USB drive program of MBA now.

Tried it here under Vista and I can Backup to USB drive and to local C: drive as well (in my Documents folder). It also let me Backup to a CD-RW.  Do you have MBA installed in C:\MBA (the default in installer)?  Which folder does your Backup go into?

If you try to Backup into "C:\Program Files\MBA" under Vista it won't work as Vista does not let you change/write to files in this Folder (new security, no changes to files in "\Program Files" are allowed and I don't think you can create new ones there either, only during program install).

Hope this helps

No Stan,  I would back it up in a folder I have called Avon MBA back up.  But when I just hit the backup tab it doesn't even show up in my program to let me search for where I want to back it up.  It just as if I never hit the back up tab.  BUT I can restore it. That tab works.  So I have put the program on a USB stick and now can only use the program from that.  Then if I want it on my desktop program of MBA I just restore it since that tab will work.  I know this is strange.  That is why I thiink there is some setting in my Vista program that won't let the back up tab to work.  HUH?   I have uninstalled the prgram and reinstalled it several times and still nothing.

This has been some puzzle to solve and I never did like puzzles.

Very strange!  Do you run the USB drive on your Vista PC or a different PC (say with XP Windows)?

You might try installing MBA again but to a different folder (in the installer it will show the Path "C:\MBA" change it to "C:\MBA2"). You will have to create a second Shortcut Icon on your Desktop for it.

Ok I did this and it seems to be working.  I deleted the other one first and reinstalled it but it still didn't back up.  So I renamed it and reinstalled it again and it is  backing up now.  I deleted the one that didn't so hopefully problem salved.  We will see.

Thanks Stan

Great that it is finally resolved.  I was like you and was thinking Vista problem.  Then I remembered where other Reps (not with Backup problem) had issues where they would reinstall and it didn't help. Yet when installed in a new Folder it worked and fixed the issue.  This happened with XP (both Pro and Home) and even Windows 2000.  Looks like the tradition continues with Vista.

Cheers,
Stan
